We are actively involved in the review, negotiation and documentation of aircraft financing, maintenance and insurance agreements on behalf of local airline operators and lessors/financiers. The firm has also handled transactions involving the sale and mortgage of vessels and aircraft and has represented some of the biggest airlines operating in Nigeria.
In addition, we are recognized as experts in the Nigerian aviation landscape and write the Nigerian Chapter of “Getting the Deal Through – Air Transport” which is used as a guide for potential investors wishing to understand the legal regime on aviation in Nigeria.
We have represented international aircraft leasing companies doing business with Nigerian airlines and in particular, have assisted them in the recovery of their aircraft where their local partners defaulted on aircraft lease agreements. We have also been involved in disputes arising from contracts for the carriage of goods as well as disputes arising from the lease of vessels. We also acted on behalf of Nigeria’s apex regulatory and promotional maritime agency with regards to shipping contracts and represented its interest in international arbitral proceedings and litigation in Nigerian Courts. Our firm also prepared and reviewed documentation in respect of the concession of a Federal Highway in Nigeria.
