Dunni has had a very exciting legal career in Corporate Nigeria spanning two decades mostly in the downstream and upstream sectors of the Nigerian oil and gas industry. She has built for herself a solid reputation as one of very few Nigerian oil and gas lawyers to have set up from scratch and managed full-fledged legal departments in international Oil and Gas companies in Nigeria such as Addax Nigeria Limited (an affiliate of the Addax Oryx Group) and more recently Petroleo Brasileiro Nigeria Limited (an affiliate of the Petrobras Group). She is a Partner with the firm.

Notable Work Undertaken

In this capacity, Dunni has negotiated, reviewed and drafted various core and allied oil and gas agreements including Production Sharing Contracts, Joint Operations Agreements, Engineering Contracts, Collective Bargaining Agreements with Unions, and Service Contracts, to mention a few. She has also advised on various aspects of oil and gas operations in Nigeria necessitating her application of Nigerian oil and gas legal framework and her appreciation of laws of foreign jurisdictions.

She has also provided strategic advice and support as and when necessary. Her role also covered various aspects of legal compliance tasks with various regulatory bodies in Nigeria. During this period, she interacted very closely with her professional peers in the local and international oil and gas industry. Prior to this period, she worked for a number of years in leading Nigerian commercial and litigation law firms where she was responsible for managing the legal affairs of high net worth individual clients and key corporations in various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Dunni has attended several international
conferences on oil and gas and related areas. She
has also served as a resource person at a number
of professional workshops.

 

  • Co-led team of lawyers that drafted Regulations for Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board that are in use in the industry.
  • Advised on the framework for the Nigerian Content Funds.
  • Post-arbitration litigation challenging an award rendered in London involving a state-owned oil company and several IOCs in respect of a unitized field in Nigeria.
  • Reviewed and negotiated Production Sharing Agreements (PSC), Joint Operating Agreements (JOA), Service Agreements, Collective Bargaining Agreements for an International Oil Company.
  • Negotiated amicable settlement of disputes that arose  with the administration of the client’s contracts and ensuring cost-effective resolutions acceptable to all parties.

  • Created compliance standards for the monitoring and application of all internal policies/procedures, contractual obligations, and laws/regulations affecting all aspects of a client’s business in Nigeria.

  • Drafting joint venture agreement for NNPC’s subsidiary in respect of its real estate project development valued at N130 Billion and dealing with compliance requirements   
  • Appointed General Counsel of Petroleo Brasiliero Nigeria Limited affiliate of Petrobras S.A
  • Appointed member of the Committee on The Review of Unitization Guidelines and Joint Development of Straddled Reservoirs/Fields in Nigeria, a committee instituted by upstream Regulator
